Bufkit Data Distribution System

Welcome to the Bufkit Data Distribution System! This system provides real-time data for the National Weather Service's software package Bufkit and can display soundings for the NAM, GFS, RAP, NAM4KM, HRRR, SREF and HIRESW models for locations regionally and around the world. The concept for this site developed out of a class project focused on the "Applications of Computers to Meteorology" in the Department of Meteorology at Penn State. The work to create this site both on the surface and behind the scenes was a combined effort of Dr. George Young, professor of meteorology, Joe Koval, former master's degree student in meteorology, and the members of the Meteo 473 class of Spring 2000. The package is currently maintained and enhanced on a time-available basis by Art Person at Penn State.
